The mysteries of nature always captured Roberto's imagination. This passion led him to investigate (he got his PhD in Ecology in 2013) and photograph a diverse array of biological systems around the world – from the humid jungles of South America, to the icebergs of Antarctica and the dry landscapes of Africa. Roberto García-Roa's trajectory results from the synergy between perceiving the world through the eyes of science, and expressing it through the emotions generated by visual storytelling.

Roberto is based in Spain and Sweden, though his projects are conducted all over the world. His work places a special focus on under-appreciated and lesser-known creatures, such as arthropods, reptiles, and amphibians, and delves into stories that showcase our intricate relationship with nature. He has worked with several institutions, including National Geographic Spain, Greenpeace International, the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance or the Chimpanzee Conservation Center and has a long experience in collaborating with researchers and naturalists around the world. His photographic work has been consistently recognized by prestigious international contests as, for example, the  GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Siena Photographic contest, Pictures of the Year and Montphoto, among others. His work has been published in covers of scientific journals (British Ecological Society media), magazines (National Geographic, The Guardian, Sonda Internacional, Nature), books, and shared by means of workshops and international naturalist and outreach events with both expert and a general audience.

Always open to work for conservation, his work shows the wonders of the natural world and the consequences of human actions on our planet as a way to create a more permanent and stronger environmental awareness: "Photography to see and change the world".
