I am a freelance photographer and writer, currently based on a sailboat in the Caribbean Sea, with a permanent home base in Washington DC. I focus on long-term conservation projects, creating bodies of work and conservation campaigns around imperiled landscapes and watersheds. My work has included decade-long projects on the US-Mexico borderlands and the Anacostia River watershed in Washington DC, as well as shorter projects on the longleaf pine ecosystem, pitcher plant bogs and national public lands. I have published three books, including two National Outdoor Book Award winners; published hundreds of stories and photos with BBC, Newsweek, Audubon, National Wildlife, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and more.
