Mark Lukes

Mark's leadership role in the photo industry has led him in many directions. In 1994, he spearheaded the founding of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and became its first president. In 2005, he worked with Larry Padgett to form The Center for Fine Art Photography and became its first president as well. Mark has been working closely with the International League of Conservation Photographers from its inception.

"Because of the time I've spent in nature, its impossible for me to not feel an obligation to do whatever I can to preserve what I've seen and enjoyed for others in generations to follow." With his wife and business partner, Linda Helm, Mark formed Images for the Environment in the 80s and recently changed the name of the organization to Art for Conservation. The focus of Art for Conservation is to provide resources to artists and photographers who share his passion for conserving nature.

Mark has lived in Fort Collins, Colorado, since 1973, has three grown children (all living in Colorado) and four grandchildren.

Mark served on iLCP's Board of Directors from 2009 through 2015 and joined again in 2021.
